Easter!

Our Easter party began the Saturday before Easter…we spent it at my Sister Jenny’s house. Nick and I went a little early to help hide the eggs. The weather wasn’t too good, it was raining on and off all day, but it held out during our Easter egg hunt. It was so much fun to watch Pearl and Ruby run around trying to figure out what to do with the eggs.

They were obviously more interested in the candy inside the eggs than actually collecting them, but can you blame them?

Even my Dad was pretty excited about the Tootsie Rolls inside!

After the hunt was over, Pearl and Ruby (or Roo as Pearl kept calling her), decided they wanted to spend some quality time playing on the playground. So Jesse and Jeff put the two parts together and the girls climbed and slid down it for about an hour!

Once they had their fill of being outside, we went inside for some brunch! My sister and mom are wonderful and provided a delicious breakfast of breakfast casseroles, fresh fruit, cinnamon roles, muffins, and apple juice. YUM!
Then the real Easter fun began…Ding Dong Bunnies! Every year we make these funny little things, and this year was no exception. Jenny sent Nick and I on a “good ear” run that morning to find the pipe cleaners with fat middles because they make better bunny ears. There were some pretty good bunnies this year!

Kurtis was in St. George with my Aunt and Uncle, so in his memory my mom made a camoflauge bunny.

Even Ruby got in on the bunny making action!

Me and my mom made this awesome Victoria's Secret bunny, complete with wings and a bow-tie!

My two favorite were my "Damn-Ducky" bunny, and my pirate bunny.
(The Damn Ducky thing is a really long story, but if you want to know it feel free to ask.)

Here are a few "family" pictures.

Nick and I.

Me, Ruby, and Pearl.

Jenny, Jeff, and Pearl making the "surprise" face.

Jesse, Emily, and Ruby.

I forgot to take my camera that day, so all the pictures are one's I stole from Jenny, thanks Jen!

House Invasion!

Our house has been invaded!! The last week I have literally killed hundreds, and hundreds of tiny little ants. Because we live in a basement and it's been raining all week long, the ants are in search of a new safe place. First, it started out with one lone ant in the bathroom, then they moved to the kitchen, then the living room, then the bedroom...I've even found two ants in our BED! I think they got there because they were already on my pants from trying to kill them, or at least I hope that is how they got in our bed.
....Okay, okay, so aside from the rain (which is the real culprit), I might be slightly to blame for the invasion. Over spring break I read the book called "Eldest" and in it there is one part when Eragon (the main character) follows the life of some ants. He goes on to explain that every living creature has a soul and can feel pain. So when I saw the little ant in our bathroom, I felt a little sorry for him. I allowed him to live. The next day he was still there...and the next and the next. Eventually I felt bad for him because I figured he was super hungry. ...yeah, I felt compassion for this disgusting little creature, I even started calling him my friend and telling Nick not to squish him. Then I caved. I gave that little thing a piece of my Hershey's hug. Chocolate, smart move Kim. The next day there were a few more ants in the bathroom, I tried to explain to my little friend that he couldn't invite the other ants into the house, but he didn't listen...they kept coming. When there were about ten in the bathroom, I decided it was too much. I killed them. I squished my little friend and his pals and flushed them in the toilet. That night there was a huge rain storm, and when I woke up, our entire kitchen sink was covered in ANTS. Hundreds of ants. We killed them all and flushed them down the toilet. But that didn't stop them. Every morning I woke up to more ants all over our house. It was disgusting. We finally caved and bought a bottle of raid. We've had to use it three different times, but this morning I woke up and for once, there were no ants in our kitchen!! Hopefully this is the end of the invasion!
